Straw Garden Hat – Wide Brim- Sewn Wheat Straw- Striped Trim- Gita

Description

This wide brim straw hat is handmade by me in my Lunenburg, Nova Scotia studio. I form braided wheat straw into a hat on my antique straw braid sewing machine. The band, rose, ties and inner band are made from organic cotton and hemp. The leaves are made from hand dyed linen.

This is a wonderful hat for working in the garden, drinking mojitos at a garden party or strolling the beach.

The ties will keep the hat on in a gust of wind. The ties are held by a vintage spool of thread, with some of the thread still on the spool.

If you need to protect your skin from the sun (who doesn’t) then you may as well look beautiful in the process.

The colour of wheat straw deepens with exposure to the sun. After a season it will be even more golden.

Each hat is made to order, so please measure your head properly. Take a soft tape measure and measure the circumference of your head, just above the eyebrows, above the tips of the ears and around the largest part of the back of your head. Don’t pull too tightly and measure a couple of times.

Your hat will be ready to ship within 2 weeks of the order being placed.
