Handmade wearable art hat made from upcycled denim fabric.

In the words of Kat Stevens, “…and though you want them to last forever you know they never will….and patches make the good-bye harder still.”
This hat has given a pair of much loved denim jeans a new lease on life. Lots of hand stitching along with handmade and vintage flowers has turned an old garment into a new piece of wearable art and in the process old textiles have been kept out of landfill. It’s pretty much a win win.
Why a pocket on a hat? Well, once upon a time genteel society decided that pockets were not very lady like. It was considered daintier to carry a small handbag. Pockets were for peasants. To this day, women’ s commercial clothing has less pockets than men’s clothing.
So, this pocket, while serving the very practical job of holding a flower spray is also making an important fashion statement. Pockets for all!
The hat is lined with polar fleece for warmth, but the lining can easily be changed to a cotton one if preferred.
This hat will fit a medium to large head size or a bit above average. Ideally your head should measure around 23″ (58.5cm).
To measure your head, take a soft tape measure and measure around your head just above the tips of the ears, above the eyebrows and around the largest part of the back of your head. Keep the tape measure parallel with the floor, don’t let it swoop down towards your neck. Measure a few times to make sure that you are consistently getting the same number.
Returns are accepted within two days of receipt.
