Spring Has Sprung

Hello, hello, I just wanted to pop in here to let people know that Spring returned. Isn’t it amazing? How do those buds know to open? I was just beginning to feel forsaken by Mother Nature when the crocuses and daffodils started appearing. In Nova Scotia, one never fully puts their winter clothes away, but I have definitely pulled the Spring clothes out. (These caps can be found HERE.)

As you can see, I have been busy making canvas caps. I started making this style at the beginning of the pandemic ( sorry to bring that word in here). I found caps easier to wear with masks, but I also discovered that I love a pretty cap. They are so easy to wear. I have spent years fighting against the takeover of baseball caps, but turns out that if a baseball cap has a pretty twist I can be quite the conformer.

I have to show you the back of the caps. I encased an elastic in silk. It’s the little things. You could even pull a ponytail through the opening. I would also like to point out the dark hair at the base of my hairline. Yes, for some reason that part of my hair has not turned grey. I think of it like those geological time charts.

Of course, I dye all these colours. Don’t ask me why I make everything hard. It’s mostly the product of wanting a particular fabric that isn’t available unless I create it myself.

The fun (and practical) thing about the flowers is that they come off the hat and can be worn on anything else…..like this linen dress that I just made. The pattern is called the Tea House Dress and it is by Sew House Seven. I love it! I made it bicycle length because I love to hop on my bicycle without having to change my clothes.

Here’s the last one. This one is only available in large. It’s an undyed cotton/linen blend. I have all these caps listed in my webshop and I’m going to be making more colours. I can make these hats in any size. You can shop for them right HERE.
These days I am busy trying to stock up for the barrage of summer visitors. That last sentence was something of a positive affirmation. Hope you can make it here. I love when people visit me in my little studio shop. Enjoy the gift of Spring. Talk soon, Anna
The color tone of the blue cap looks really familiar!
Love my hat. Thank you.

So happy to hear that, Nancy!
